In a unanimous vote, Round Rock City Council authorized Mayor Craig Morgan to  finalize an agreement with the Police Officers Association.

The deal allows the city to offer a pay increase to police officers of 2.5 percent in FY 2019 and FY 2020. In addition, the deal will normalize the percentage difference of pay steps, which is equivalent to years of service. This was normalized to 2 percent, according to City Manager Laurie Hadley.

Hadley said the deal also changes the amount officers receive on retirement and sick leave policy.

Negotiations between the city and the POA started in early summer and have been healthy, Hadley said.

She thanked the POA and the Texas Municipal Police Association for their respective roles in the process.

The POA approved the deal in a 116-9 vote.
