On Tuesday, Jim McLean, Pflugerville Police Department assistant chief, announced he would be retiring after serving the community for 24 years. McLean said he plans to retire at the end of August. He has previously served with the Hutto Police Department, and he began his career with PPD in 1993 as a nighttime patrol officer. McLean has been serving in his current role of assistant chief since 2007, although he has filled a variety of roles, including stints as a K-9 officer, sergeant, lieutenant and captain, as well as serving as the department's public information officer. He graduated from Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas where he was named Officer of the Year in 2007. "I want to thank assistant chief McLean for his 24 years of service to the residents of Pflugerville," Chief Jessica Robledo said. "We wish him the best in his new adventures and are happy for him to spend well-deserved time with family."
