An official for Valero said Friday the proposed project for Hutto did not include building an oil refinery.
"We are planning to build a distribution terminal in Williamson County that includes a truck rack and a refined product (gasoline [and] diesel) storage tank on property near the Williamson County Landfill," the spokesperson said.
The proposed project included a 5-bay truck rack and storage of about 500,000 barrels of refined product. The proposal also included 70 miles of 12-inch pipeline from Hearne to Williamson County to transport up to 60,000 barrels per day of refined product.
City officials said Friday they are opposed for environmental factors. "We prefer more eco-friendly businesses in our community," the statement from the city said.

The city of Hutto has said “no” to one potential investor.
City officials met with representatives of Valero Energy Corp. regarding the company’s desire to build an oil refinery and storage facility near the Hutto landfill.
“The city of Hutto is opposed to this proposal and has voiced its opposition to the proposed project and requested Valero consider alternative sites outside of Hutto, its [extraterritorial jurisdiction] and growth areas,” Mayor Doug Gaul said.
“The city is going to work with other governmental entities in addressing the issues raised by the proposed development,” City Attorney Mike Shaunessy said.
Valero, a petroleum refiner and ethanol producer, is a Fortune 500 company based in San Antonio and has approximately 10,000 employees, according to its website.
