On July 15 the culmination of more than a year's worth of work will come to fruition as the Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District celebrates the grand opening of its expanded community center. The new portion of the building has an expanded weight room, space for a second gym, a press box, a larger child life center and more.

The expansion also will offer a Wi-Fi lounge to watch games, fitness rooms equipped for barre classes and a climbing wall.

The entire addition is composed of more than 26,000 square feet and cost $8.5 million to build. Guests are welcome from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to celebrate the opening with food, music and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

"The expansion offers opportunities to provide additional programming for all residents of Brushy Creek—youth, teens, adults and seniors," BCMUD Community Center Coordinator Betsy Schultz said. "It is for the residents to build memories and to build upon the quality of life in Brushy Creek."

The facility is open on weekdays from 5:30 a.m.-10 p.m., on Saturdays from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Memberships for residents cost $112 for individuals and $336 for families, annually. For nonresidents, memberships cost $277 for individuals and $672 for families, annually.
