Round Rock City Manager Laurie Hadley[/caption]Laurie Hadley had nothing but good news during her presentation at the Round Rock Chamber Power Lunch.
Round Rock’s city manager was the keynote speaker for the monthly meeting, held Tuesday at the Austin Marriott North in Round Rock. Hadley outlined five main points of interest and goals to attendees, including:
- Be a financially sound city, delivering high-value services.
- City Infrastructure: Today and tomorrow, a great community to live in.
- Be the sports capital of Texas for tourists and residents.
- Authentic downtown — exciting community destination.
- Sustainable neighborhoods — old and new.
“I can’t say enough about our downtown,” Hadley said. “It’s coming together.”
She also discussed many of the city's other milestone development projects, including the Kalahari resort on Hwy. 79, a $500 million water park, hotel and convention center project that will bring 1,000 jobs to the city by fall 2020. Old Settlers Park will also get a facelift when a new $27 million multipurpose sports complex and field rehab project are completed by April 2017.
Hadley said the budget is strong, and the city continues to make infrastructure improvements.
Neighborhoods, she said, are also being improved upon. Issues with garage conversions, unattended curbside garbage and falling-down fences were all addressed through recent City Council ordinances.
Hadley said city survey responses rated Round Rock above regional and national averages for satisfaction with city services and amenities. Roads and construction rated as the only negatives.
Hadley also shared “The Purrrrfect Budget Video,” developed by Round Rock Communications Director Will Hampton and shared at roundrocktexas.gov.
