Pflugerville residents will have two chances to meet the city's mayoral candidates before the Nov. 8 election.

Black Pflugerville, a nonprofit, nonpartisan group established to encourage more African-American participation in Pflugerville city matters, will host a public forum that will include all three Pflugerville mayor candidates—Victor Gonzales, Brad Marshall and Phil Osars-Emia—as well as Jeff Travillion (Democrat) Pat McCord (Republican) and Ashely Gordon (Green Party), candidates for Travis County commissioner Precinct 1.

The event takes place from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Rolling Rooster, 100 12th St., and will be livestreamed on Black Pflugerville’s Facebook page and African TV 5.

The Hendrickson High School speech and debate team will host another mayoral debate at the school’s performing arts center, 19201 Colorado Sand Drive, at 7 p.m. on Sept. 29. The debate will be moderated by students asking student-generated questions as part of the school's weeklong focus on community civic engagement.
