Pflugerville ISD proposes same tax rate as previous fiscal year
The Pflugerville ISD voted to keep the tax rate the same as the prior fiscal year.
The Pflugerville ISD tax rate will remain the same as the board of trustees voted Aug. 18 to keep the rate at $1.54 per $100 valuation, the same rate approved for the prior fiscal year.
The $1.54 tax rate breaks down into two components; a $1.04 tax per $100 valuation for maintenance and operations, and $0.50 per $100 valuation for a debt service tax, which is used to fund projects such as the district stadium.
Though the school district tax rate did not change, Pflugerville homeowners can still anticipate a rise in the school's portion of the property tax rate as home values continue to rise.
Approval was passed with a 6-1 vote, with trustee Rob Reyes dissenting, saying he was concerned about the tax burden on homeowners.
“A half cent decrease [in the tax rate] wouldn’t hurt as much,” Reyes said. “It would send a signal to our constituents that we are looking out for their interests.”
