Austin-based public transportation provider Capital Metro will conduct a three-year transit development plan for the city of Pflugerville, according to an agreement approved by City Council Oct. 13. The plan—which will cost approximately $17,005 to develop—will examine various types of public transportation that could benefit Pflugerville now and in the future, according to city staff. "What we want to do is utilize these alternate modes of transportation to better support what we're trying to achieve in certain [areas] of the community," Assistant City Manager Trey Fletcher said. "What we need to do is position Pflugerville to be competitive, not only on today's terms but on future terms." The city also agreed to contract with The Goodman Corp. to create a mixed-use transportation center that would function as a Park and Ride. City Manager Brandon Wade, who previously worked on transportation policies in Galveston and Dallas, said he believes it is essential to "create transit Pflugerville-style."
