Hector Orozco, general manager of the Hampton Inn & Suites in Hutto, said the hotel has seen success in its first months of operation.
The hotel opened in July on Ed Schmidt Boulevard. It is the most recent hotel in the area to open.
Orozco said the hotel is seeing many leisure travelers, such as soccer, baseball and softball teams, on the weekends coming in for sports events at the nearby Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
Outside of sports tournaments, Orozco said the hotel has also seen business from October’s Formula 1 racing event, wedding parties and the X Games that took place in June.
“Normally, December and January are slow [for hotels],” Orozco said. “But we are looking forward to February and March. In March we have South by Southwest.”
Ownership of the hotel changed in October. Tridip Patel is the new owner and said the area’s growing economy and amenities attracted him to buy the hotel.
“We came from Oklahoma and North Carolina,” Patel said. “Compared to there this place has very good potential.”
