After the conclusion of a yearlong road study, up to $126.7 million in road improvements are planned along Pflugerville's FM 685 corridor.

The study, which began in March 2022, analyzed FM 685 from SH 130 to Wells Branch Parkway and developed a list of recommended improvements.

Pflugerville City Council voted to adopt the plan Feb. 28 after reviewing it at a Feb. 14 workshop.

Improvements identified in the plan include widening FM 685 to three lanes in each direction as well as upgrades at several intersections along the road.

The intersection projects include converting FM 685 and Pflugerville Parkway into a continuous flow intersection like the one at FM 685 and Pecan Street as well as reconfiguring the right-turn lanes, and adding traffic signals and sidewalks at FM 685 and SH 130.

According to city materials, the cost of all proposed improvements would total approximately $126.7 million.

The next step in the process is for council to consider a contract for schematic design work on March 14.

Funding for the study itself and for the design work come from the city's 2020 transportation bond, but a funding source has not yet been identified for construction of the project.
