Planning work is set to begin on an updated project repairing and reconstructing seven roads throughout Pflugerville.

Engineering firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. initially began planning work on the project in January using a series of recommended repairs from a 2019 study.

However, after conducting its initial survey work, the firm proposed several changes to the recommended repairs, LAN representative Hossein Roshani said in a presentation to Pflugerville City Council on June 28.

LAN's proposed updates included full reconstructions of Great Basin Avenue and Piccadilly Drive, which had only been slated for mill and overlay before.

"We came up with lower pavement condition numbers, which means that the pavement has deteriorated in the last two years," Roshani said.

On June 28, council approved a new $254,368 contract with LAN for additional services related to the updated scope of the project.

The scope of LAN's services will include geotechnical analysis, design and assistance in the bidding process.

Funding for the reconstruction project comes from a bond approved in 2020.
