The Travis County Commissioners Court marked the opening of Grand Avenue Parkway as a four-lane divided roadway with a virtual ribbon-cutting ceremony March 23. The Grand Avenue Parkway enhancements run within the Wells Branch neighborhood from Bratton Lane to Crissom Lane.

Alongside the four-lane roadway, the upgrades include bike lanes and sidewalks, according to a March 23 Travis County news release.

“Before this was open, the only east-west street for all of Wells Branch was Wells Branch Parkway,” said Brigid Shea, Travis County Commissioner for Precinct 2, in the release. “This is a huge improvement. It gives people more options and reduces the bottlenecks that were not good for the neighborhood.”

The Grand Avenue Parkway project was one of 60 transportation and parks projects included in the county's 2017 bond program. The county aims to have the 2017 bond program "substantially complete"—meaning 75% done with construction—by December 2022, per the release.
