Kelly Lane Park will soon undergo construction to improve amenities after Pflugerville City Council approved a $1.9 million contract at an Aug. 26 City Council meeting.

The gist

Improvements to the park will include:
  • 18 parking spaces (including two ADA compliant spaces)
  • 3 pickleball courts
  • 2,500 feet of concrete trail
  • Shaded playground
  • Bike rack
  • Pavilion
  • Site furnishings, such as benches and picnic tables
  • Restroom facility
Kelly Lane Park will include the Pflugerville Parks and Recreation Department’s first outdoor pickleball courts.

“We know that there’s a huge demand [for pickleball],” Place 4 Council member Rudy Metayer said. “This also happens to be over at our local road that we just expanded and finished over there as well. So it’s easy access for the community at large.”

The cost

Council approved a $1.9 million contract with Patin Construction for the park improvements, as well as approving the purchase of a prefabricated restroom facility, bringing the total cost of improvements to a little over $2.1 million.

Bond funding will pay for the park improvements. In 2020, voters approved a $42.3 million bond for parks and recreation projects, including $7.4 million for the improvement of neighborhood parks.

Construction is scheduled to begin in October and be completed next spring.
