The history

What's changed

Today, Pflugerville has an estimated population of 82,222 people based on January 2025 estimates, according to the city.

The city has taken on several projects to accommodate growth, like the Downtown East development. The project will include a multigenerational recreation center, designed to serve people of all ages and abilities, as well as a new city hall, a central green area and a plaza.

Three major ongoing projects will expand the city’s water and wastewater system, as well. The secondary Colorado River raw water line will nearly double Pflugerville’s raw water supply, according to the city. The Wilbarger Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility will be able to treat 6 million gallons per day, and the Surface Water Treatment Plant Expansion will increase the plant’s capacity from 17 MGD to 30 MGD.
