At Pflugerville's May 1 state of the city address, Mayor Victor Gonzales discussed the city's investment in infrastructure projects, including $1 billion over the next five years for the city's water supply, which is "the largest investment in [Pflugerville's] history."

The breakdown

Gonzales discussed the city's progress on infrastructure projects, both planned and recently begun.

1. Water

The city's $1 billion investment in water infrastructure include its water treatment plant expansion, constructing a second wastewater plant and building the new Colorado River waterline. These infrastructure projects are "the foundation that supports [the city's] progress," Gonzales said.

2. Roads

In the last two years, Pflugerville completed five road projects, with another 41 in some stage of development. Some of these projects include the Kelly Lane expansion and the Colorado Sand Boulevard connection.

"When we invest in roads, we invest in people," Gonzales said.

The city has $15 million allocated for major roadway projects like Picadilly Drive, Central Commerce Drive and Royston Lane, and has invested $5.3 million to revitalize neighborhood streets.

3. Development

Two major developments saw progress this year. Downtown East, a mixed-use site on the Pfluger Tract that will eventually host the new City Hall and multigenerational recreation center, broke ground in February.

Another mixed-use development, Project Greenfield, is in the beginning stages of planning. The planned site is "a bold future development near Lake Pflugerville [that] will blend commerce, recreation and stunning lake views," Gonzales said.
