As of June 7, the first ever Pflugerville Pride festival has 915 registrants.

The celebration, which takes place June 18 in downtown Pflugerville, features several events including an LGBTQ panel that includes State of Texas Rep. Celia Israel and State Rep. Sheryl Cole.

Marc Garcia, president of Pflugerville Pride, said he is excited to see how the event has taken hold.

"People coming off of the pandemic are excited to gather within their communities," Garcia said. "We're spending quite a bit of money right now in social media advertising. And it's incredible the reception we're getting all around Central Texas."

Garcia said the festival will include an LGBTQ panel, live music, more than 70 vendors, drag performances, comedians, and a headliner from VH1's "RuPaul's Drag Race."

"We're really excited about the festival itself and the warm reception we've gotten," Garcia said. "... Austin has consistently had a pride fest, but it's always been in August. Pride month [is typically] in June, but we're hoping the people come out and celebrate with us in June."

Garcia said the reason Pflugerville Pride is spending so much in advertising is because the group wants to reach everyone in Central Texas. He added they want people to come to Pflugerville so they can realize why they are spending the money.

"No matter the size of your city, pride can be celebrated anywhere, including Pflugerville," Garcia said.
