Slightly lower enrollment predicted for Hutto ISD over next decade amid housing market shift
Buyer behavior changes in the Hutto housing market may slow down Hutto ISD's student enrollment growth slightly compared to previous estimates, demographers shared in April.
Paul Cash, a demographer with Zonda Education, the district's demographic firm, shared enrollment projections for the next decade in an April 23 board meeting. Home sales in the area are slowing, he said, but HISD is still projected to grow by several thousand students over the next 10 years.

Hutto ISD to propose same tax rate for 2026-27
The Hutto ISD board of trustees will meet in June to consider its proposed budget for the 2026-27 financial year.
The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. June 26 in the district administration building at 200 College St., Hutto. Outgoing Chief Financial Officer Caleb Steed said in an April 23 board meeting that the district is proposing the same tax rate as the 2025-26 financial year, $0.7552 per $100 of valuation to fund maintenance and operations and $0.45 per $100 of valuation to service district debts, such as bonds. The total tax rate proposed will be $1.2052 per $100 of valuation, but that could go down, Steed said, if property values increase.

Hutto ISD pioneering administrative incentive program, working to balance FY 2026-27 budget
Some Hutto ISD employees may qualify for a future pilot program to incentivize administrators, as district staff works to plan the district's financial future ahead of the 2026-27 budget year.
In an April budget update, HISD Chief Financial Officer Caleb Steed said the district expects to meet its financial goal of a balanced budget for the 2026-27 financial year, following district-wide budget reductions and amid higher property values.
