Work on second Hutto ISD high school conversion progressing 'rapidly'

Work to expand a campus dedicated to the education of ninth graders in Hutto ISD and convert it into the district's second comprehensive high school is progressing quickly, district officials said in September.

The big picture

As the district's total enrollment is projected to grow by about 5,000 students, crews are working to covert the Hutto Ninth Grade Center to serve students in grades nine through 12.

Pflugerville ISD names principal of future CTE center

Pflugerville ISD officials announced Oct. 7 that Daniel Garcia, a PfISD educator of 24 years, will become the first principal of the new career and technical education center, which is set to open in 2027.

Per the news release, Garcia joined the district in 2000 and has served as principal at both Connally High and Hendrickson High schools.

Workforce housing project underway in Pflugerville ISD

An affordable housing project for Pflugerville ISD teachers is underway through its Public Facility Corporation, or PFC.


The PfISD board of trustees established a workforce housing PFC to support the project during the Sept. 18 board meeting.

Some context

PfISD’s PFC was first established in 2021, and the board of trustees acts as its board of directors.

The nonprofit organization is sponsored by the district but acts as a separate entity and can finance, acquire, construct, renovate and repair public facilities, said Chief Financial Officer Jennifer Land.
