As the start to the fall semester approaches, Texas State Technical College is working to expand its industrial systems education opportunities with a new Advanced Manufacturing program.

The overview

The new program, known officially as Advanced Manufacturing-Industrial Maintenance, will launch this fall, according to a news release from TSTC.

With the launch, Industrial Systems as a whole will also relocate within the center, increasing student capacity for the program. It will move from the first floor to the third floor, expanding capacity from 12 to 40 students.

What they're saying

“Industrial maintenance technicians are the ones who keep any sort of manufacturing facility up and running,” said Roger Snow, TSTC’s dean of manufacturing, in the release. “All of the conveying systems, the hydraulics, pneumatics, the whole mechanical systems, these are the ones that keep it running.”

The details

Industrial maintenance students who complete the program will receive an associate degree and two certificates of completion, according to the release.

What's next?

Renovations to the expanded space are expected to be completed before the start of the fall 2025 term Sept. 2.

In anticipation of another program set to launch next year, Advanced Manufacturing-Semiconductor Technology, a mock clean room will replace the former Industrial Systems space on the first floor.

Later, the Industrial Maintenance program will once again relocate in the fall of 2027, when the Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence is planned to open.

The new building is planned to accommodate 120 students.
