Hutto ISD's athletics programs will be lead by Will Compton, after the board of trustees approved his hiring Jan. 9.

What you need to know

Compton took over leadership of the district's athletics department in January, following the departure of Brad LaPlante, who is leaving the district to lead the athletic department of Montgomery ISD.

Prior to his hiring as director, Compton served as the district's head football coach and boys athletic coordinator.

What they're saying

“I am truly excited to serve as the next Athletic Director for Hutto ISD and appreciate [Superintendent Jeni Neatherlin], the Hutto ISD board of trustees, and school community for giving me this opportunity,” Compton said in a release from the district. “I fell in love with Hutto ISD the day I stepped on campus and look forward to moving all our programs forward as we continue to grow as a District. Athletics builds character and I’m confident our success on the field, on the court, and in the classroom will continue to produce great members of the Hutto community.”

What's next?

Per the district, the search for a new head football coach and boys athletic coordinator is currently underway.
