Pflugerville ISD sees STAAR score gains across 11 subjects
New data from the Texas Education Agency shows that Pflugerville ISD students saw some year-over-year gains and losses in their 2026 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, scores.
The TEA released statewide and district-specific scores for the high school STAAR end-of-course exams for algebra, English, biology and U.S. History on June 10, and third through eighth grade STAAR tests for math, reading and social studies June 16.

Pflugerville ISD adopts 2026-27 budget with $15.6M shortfall
Pflugerville ISD is slated to see a $15.6 million budget shortfall in 2026-27, following the board of trustees' adoption of the budget June 18.
According to Chief Financial Officer Jennifer Land, PfISD's general fund budget is projected to consist of $296.8 million worth of revenues against $311.4 million worth of expenditures and $1 million in other uses, resulting in the $15.6 million shortfall.

PfISD's Chief of Schools Laila Olivarez shared the latest updates behind the optimization actions at a Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce event June 9.
The board of trustees voted May 14 to close Dessau, Parmer Lane, Pflugerville and Windermere elementary schools at the end of the 2026-27 school year. The vote came after months of deliberation on what optimization actions to take to address the district's projected multimillion-dollar budget shortfalls over the next several years.
