In preparation for the upcoming school year, the Pflugerville ISD board of trustees approved the 2024-25 school calendar during a Jan. 18 board meeting.

From Dec. 19-Jan. 18, parents, students and other community members provided feedback on two calendar options put forward by the District Academic Advisory Council.

According to Adelaida Olivarez, chief academic and innovation officer, over 1,800 responses were recorded. The board selected the calendar option favored by 60% of the respondents.

Dates to know


Per the approved calendar, there are a total of 187 teacher work days and 172.5 instructional days. Students will start classes Aug. 13 and end May 22, while teachers will start Aug. 2 and end May 23.

There are also two built-in bad weather days on Feb. 17 and May 23, if needed.

Student and staff holidays include:
  • Sept. 2: Labor Day
  • Oct. 11: parent/teacher conference day (student holiday only)
  • Oct. 14: Indigenous Peoples’ Day (student holiday only)
  • Nov. 1: Diwali
  • Nov. 25-29: Thanksgiving break
  • Dec. 20-Jan. 6: winter break
  • Jan. 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Feb. 17: Presidents’ Day/bad weather makeup day
  • March 17-22: spring break, which coincides with The University of Texas as well as Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown and Leander ISDs
  • April 18: Good Friday
Early release days include:
  • Oct. 31: Halloween
  • Dec. 19: winter break
  • May 22: last day of school
