Pflugerville ISD leaders joined together April 28 to break ground on Elementary School No. 23.

The school will be located northwest of Lake Pflugerville, off Hidden Lake Drive. Funding for the campus came from the voter-approved 2018 PfISD bond election.

“We’ve been working tirelessly to address the growth and diversity in our community,” PfISD Superintendent Doug Killian said. “And for those of you who don’t know actually [SH]130, highway 130 is a mid-way point for our district in terms of properties. So, we have a lot of growth to happen in the future, and sites like this are going to help us meet this.”

Killian went on to say the school will be located in a neighborhood where most of the students live close enough to walk or bike to school, which will promote healthy lifestyles. Board President Vernagene Mott also spoke at the event, thanking the voters of 2018 for passing the bond.

“To be able to put a school here for our children is amazing, and it’s good,” Mott said.

Elementary No. 23 is slated to open in fall 2022. The campus construction will be overseen by Drymalla Construction.
