Pflugerville City Council approved three water and wastewater contracts totaling almost $8 million at its meeting May 27. The contracts further city projects to extend wastewater service and expand the Colorado River raw water pump station.

About the projects

The North Wilbarger wastewater interceptor project will extend wastewater service west of SH 130 an north of SH 45. Contractor Patin Construction will install about 1,600 feet of 15-inch wastewater pipeline.

The project also includes installing steel reinforced polymer concrete manholes.

Another project, for the Cottonwood West wastewater force main and Carmel East wastewater interceptor, will extend wastewater service from Cottonwood West Lift Station to the existing Carmel Lift Station.


Contractor C.C. Carlton Industries will install almost 6,000 feet of 16-Inch wastewater force main and 4,000 feet of 24-Inch wastewater interceptor.

The Colorado River raw water pump expansion project aims to increase the raw water capacity for current and future city demand. Council approved the purchase of an emergency standby generator to facilitate this project.

What else?

The North Wilbarger wastewater interceptor project will be substantially complete in 180 days after construction starts, according to city documents. Funded in part by the Environmental Protection Agency's WIFIA loan program, the total cost comes out to $1.9 million.


City documents show that the the Cottonwood West and Carmel East project will wrap up within about 300 days after construction. The project is also partially funded by WIFIA loans, and the total cost amounts to $4.5 million.

A hazard mitigation grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will help pay for the Colorado River Raw Water Pump expansion, amounting to $2.6 million with a 10% city match. The generator purchase comes out to $1.35 million.
