The city of Pflugerville finished building a new AT&T cell tower along SH 130 in November, intended to improve cell phone service in the area.
What is it?
The new wireless telecommunication facility is located east of FM 685, on property behind the Point of Grace Lutheran Church. Original design plans show a 120-foot tower set roughly 400 feet away from residential areas.
AT&T officials led the construction of the tower and the site went live at the end of November, according to an AT&T representative. Plans also showed that the tower will be used as FirstNet site to support first responder communication for emergency medical services, police departments and fire departments.
Some context
Pflugerville City Council originally approved the permitting for the tower in October 2023. The specific-use permit was intended to strengthen signal strength and coverage in Stone Hill and Falcon Pointe.
