Following the Fritz Park groundbreaking last month, park closures went into effect Dec. 12. The park will be closed for the next year while under construction.

About the project

Phase 2 of the Fritz Park renovations include plans for a new splash pad, a pump track and skate park, expanded shaded playgrounds, lighted walking trails, and new restrooms. Additional feature include a dog park, performance stage, pavilion, gazebo and resurfaced tennis courts.

Part of Hutto's capital improvement plan, total costs for the project come out to $11 million, which is funded through 2018 voter-approved bonds.

What else?

During the year-long park closure, the Cottonwood Trail, athletic fields and tennis courts will still be available. Hutto has several other outdoor spaces available for residents, including Adam Orgain Park, Creekside Park and Hutto Lake Park.
