The city of Hutto held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Fritz Park renovations Nov. 8, which marked the start of phase two of the project to transform the park.

About the project

The Fritz Park project is part of Hutto's capital improvement plan, which is intended to address infrastructure needs in the city. Total costs for the project come out to $11 million, which is funded through 2018 voter-approved bonds.

Fritz Park renovations include:
  • New splash pad
  • Pump track and skate park
  • Expanded shaded playgrounds
  • Lighted walking trails
  • New, modern restrooms
Design work also shows plans for a dog park, performance stage, pavilion, gazebo and resurfaced tennis courts. The designer for the project is Burditt Consulting and City Council approved a contract with STR Constructors in October for phase two construction work.

Renovations are expected to be complete by fall 2025, city officials said. The first construction phase was completed in April of this year, according to Hutto’s capital improvement plans.
