A 4.3-acre parcel of land on Ed Schmidt Boulevard in Hutto planned to be home to a hotel called Towneplace Suites by Marriott is one step closer to beginning construction following action from Hutto City Council.
At a Sept. 1 meeting, council approved an amendment to the planned unit development—or PUD—zoning for the parcel.
Council approved the original version of the PUD in 2020.
The primary change in the amended PUD was an increase to the height limit for certain parts of the building from 35 feet to 62 feet.
Hutto officials said the higher limit is necessary to accommodate the 89-room, four story-hotel proposed for the site.
Other changes included in the Sept. 1 amendment include driveway adjustments, flipped building placement, and added trees and shrubbery.
Towneplace Suites owner and developer Manish Amin said the all-suite hotel will have fully equipped kitchens and living areas.
