Hutto City Council approved a specific-use permit for an outdoor recreation center at the site, which is also home to Christ the Rock Lutheran Church, on March 3.
The facility will be named Patriot Sports and Fitness. Its owner, Nick Janowitz, owns another gym of the same name in Round Rock.
Janowitz said Patriot Sports and Fitness will offer a variety of training, classes and camps for children and adults.
"We do some business, but we will be doing a lot of charitable stuff, too," Janowitz said. "We really don't turn anybody away."
