New utility rates will go into effect for Pflugerville residents Oct. 1, resulting in a higher bill for most users.

For users with a standard 5/8-inch meter, the base monthly charge for water will increase from $19 to $24 and the volume charge will go up. For wastewater, the base charge will increase from $29 to $31.

According to a city release, the average user can expect to spend $72.10 on water and $57 on wastewater, for a total bill increase of $21.

The release states the increased rates will help to offset inflationary costs and fund several key water and wastewater projects.

More information on the new rates, including precise volume charge rates for different usage amounts, is available on the city's website.
