Rose submitted a notice of his resignation to council Jan. 14. In the notice, Rose indicated that he and his family are relocating out of Hutto and he will no longer be qualified to serve on the council as a result.
Rose was elected to Place 6 in May 2019. His is one of two council seats up for election this May.
At its regular meeting Jan. 20, council will consider appointing a temporary replacement to fill Rose's seat until the May general election as well as a new mayor pro tem.
"I have loved my time serving the great people of Hutto and was looking forward to a fun election season that was about to take place," Rose said in his notice to council. "I wish you all and this great city nothing but the best moving forward."
