Lakeway City Council awarded a City Park improvement contract to G. Creek Construction at a special meeting April 8.
Beyond construction of a restroom facility, the improvement project seeks to fix a number of issues, including trail erosion leading from the park’s upper-level restroom down to its loop trail. A city document states trail erosion is exposing irrigation pipes and wires.
The contract, which came in at almost $50,000 lower than the only other competing bid from Majestic Services Inc., totals out at $352,584. Documents from Lakeway state city staff emailed 11 vendors about the project.
Assistant City Manager Julie Oakley said the total cost includes the restroom structure, engineering, site development, utility costs and improvement of the trail.
Lakeway Parks and Recreation Director Andra Bennett said construction for the restroom should begin as soon as the contract is executed, which will likely be in about two weeks.
