Here are some things to know this week if you live in or around Northwest Austin.

1. Round Rock ISD bond vote

RISD trustees are set to vote Thursday on a proposed bond package that would be put before voters during a special election May 6. A citizen bond committee recommended including $530.13 million worth of projects in the bond, although trustees last week considered adding additional projects that could bring the total closer to $591 million. Big ticket items in the proposal include $130 million to build RRISD's proposed sixth comprehensive high school on Pearson Ranch Road in Austin, $45 million to build a new facility to replace the existing C.D. Fulkes Middle School and $22 million for a new indoor aquatics center. The board's regular meeting begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at Round Rock High School's Old Lecture Hall, 300 Lake Creek Drive, Round Rock.

2. RRISD trustee appointment

Before RRISD trustees get to their bond vote, they will need to appoint someone to take the now-vacant Place 4 position on the board. Trustees decided Feb. 9 to appoint a new member rather than call a special election for May. The Place 4 position was vacated by Trustee Terri Romere, who resigned from the board in January. RRISD is seeking applicants for the Place 4 spot. Applications are due by 4 p.m. Monday. More information is available here. Trustees are expected to make their appointment by Wednesday. 4. First steps toward a new Austin city manager

Last week, Austin City Council voted 6-5 to select Russell Reynolds, a private sector-focused search firm, to assist the search for a new city manager. Austin's previous city manager, Mark Ott, left the job this past fall. Selecting a search firm is the first major step for City Council toward hiring a permanent replacement.
