The Travis County Clerk's Office, which conducts elections, expressed in a Feb. 1 press release a "dire need" for poll workers for both early and election day voting for the March 1 primary elections.

According to the release, the clerk's office is short 229 poll workers for the early-voting period and 364 for election day. These positions are paid at $15-$17 per hour, according to the release.

During the March 1 primary, Travis County voters will cast ballots in either the Republican or Democratic primary for a number of statewide and local positions. The winners of the primary contest advance to the general election Nov. 8.

Early voting for the March 1 primary runs from Feb. 14-25.
