Travis County is participating in the free National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on April 29.[/caption]Travis County is hosting four drop-off locations as part of the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday.
Residents will be able to drop off any expired or unused prescription medications for free and anonymously from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Medications will then be taken by the Drug Enforcement Administration for incineration.
In a news release, the county said safely disposing of prescription medications can help prevent drug abuse and misuse as well as prevent accidental poisonings and overdoses.
The event also allows residents to have a way of disposing of medications safely without flushing them down the toilet or tossing them in the trash, which could harm drinking water, according to the county.
