Since March, Premises Place Group founder Marcus Jordan said his company has had to find new ways to show apartments to clients.

At a time when many apartment complexes have ceased on-site visitations, Jordan said, his company has spent the past several months developing virtual tours. Where the company had been capturing virtual tour photos at a slower pace prior to the pandemic, coronavirus forced the company to increase its innovation, he said.

“We were taking a very slow approach,” Jordan said. “When [the pandemic] happened, it was one of those experiences where we had maybe two or three virtual captures at the time. ... We can try to keep this slow and possibly lose our clientele, ... or we can accelerate what we’ve been wanting to do and help our clients.”

Premises Place Group currently has seven North Austin apartments, such as properties at Ascent Arboretum or the Residences at The Domain, available to tour virtually on its website. These tours include overhead views of the apartment floor plan, allowing potential renters to see the total square footage of the apartment and the dimensions of the space.

To capture these virtual tours, Jordan said he personally goes into apartments with a team member that records the entire floor plan using a 360-degree camera.

“Every time I go look at a unit and I'm looking on behalf of a client, I have that client’s criteria in mind,” Jordan said.

The virtual tours available on the site also allow clients to effectively walk through the entire apartment without ever having to actually step foot in the door.

That tool, Jordan said, is incredibly handy at a time when many complexes are not allowing in-person visits because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“This allows us to help more people all at one time, 24 hours a day,” Jordan said.
