Home sales rise as prices drop in Northwest Austin housing market

Where the Austin metro area differed was in home sales, which declined by 3.4%.

Looking at Travis County, home sales rose by 1.6%, the median price dropped by 3.9% and pending sales rose by more than 20%. Williamson County experienced similar activity, with a 1.9% increase in sales, a 4.5% decline in prices and 17.8% rise in pending sales.

“What’s particularly notable about May’s housing activity is that buyers continued to engage with the market even as many of the factors that typically create hesitation, such as affordability challenges and economic uncertainty, remained in place,” O’Grady said. “That tells us consumers are making decisions based on long-term life goals and housing needs rather than trying to perfectly time the market.”
