Kevin Hibbs’ and Chase Hunter’s new full-service bar on Pond Springs Road opened Feb. 5. The establishment is an offshoot of a similar bar near downtown Austin, The Local Pub & Patio, located at 2610 Guadalupe St. Hibbs said The Local Outpost Saloon is a neighborhood hangout space rather than simply a place to imbibe. It has televisions, indoor cornhole, pool, darts, foosball and other games as well as an outdoor seating area. Along with quirks like the bell over the bar, The Local Outpost also offers a Frequent Flyer Program in which returning customers receive a mug after purchasing 36 beers over the course of multiple visits. “We just saw a need for a nice bar in this area,” Hibbs said. The bar features a number of interior and exterior design elements, including a television area with couches and other seating as well as a custom, hand-built wooden bar.
