1. Incubator for Innovation and Impact

Concordia University Texas and Tech Ranch Austin host a breakfast and speaker panel to offer information about their new business accelerator designed to give resources to local entrepreneurs, including a co-working space, classes, audio and video production, and print and mailing services. Event speakers include Kevin Koym, founder and CEO of Tech Ranch Austin; Stephen Kreher, senior director of economic development at the Austin Chamber of Commerce; Rudy Garza, founder and managing director of G-51 Capital Management LLC; and Glendene Lemard-Marlow, assistant professor at Concordia's School and Business and Communication and a visiting scientist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

2. Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, Girl Day STEM festival 

More than 8,000 children, parents and educators from across Texas are expected to attend the 16th annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day and Girl Day STEM Festival at the Cockrell School of Engineering Complex at The University of Texas. The daylong event, hosted by the Cockrell School's Women in Engineering Program, includes educational activities to encourage interest and creativity in the fields of engineering and science for both girls and boys attending elementary or middle school.

3. Homebrewers rally at Oskar Blues Brewery

The American Homebrewers Association host the event to give homebrewers the chance to visit local breweries and connect with other beer enthusiasts and homebrewers in the area. The rally includes a VIP brewery tour, beer samples, prizes and a chance to meet with Oskar Blues brewers. Guests are also welcome to bring their old hardware for a homebrewing equipment yard sale and swap.

4. ACC health care open house

Austin Community College's Health Sciences Division hosts an open house for current and prospective students to tour facilities; view demonstrations; and meet with faculty and staff from division programs, including nursing, dental hygiene, radiology, sonography and surgical technology.

5. Concordia-Tech Ranch Incubator open house 

Following Thursday's event, Concordia University Texas and Tech Ranch Austin host an open house for their Incubator for Innovation and Impact, which is slated to open this spring.

6. CROP Hunger Walk 

Local organizations, including the Central Texas Food Bank, Interfaith Action of Central Texas, Refugee Services of Texas and Church World Service, host the 39th annual edition of the Austin CROP Hunger Walk, which brings together people of different ages, religions and backgrounds to raise awareness and money for hunger, disaster relief, medical care and development projects both locally and around the world. In 2016, the event raised more than $78,000, according to the CTFBk, which received $12,497.71 of that amount to provide nearly 50,000 meals to people in need.
