Arts and crafts retail store Hobby Lobby is on track to replace Randalls in Braker Village by 2025.

Some context

Confirmation of the Randalls closure came from Christy Lara, spokesperson for Albertsons Companies Southern Division, which owns Randalls, in January. Lara said the company decided to close the supermarket—located about a quarter-mile from newly renovated H-E-B North Hills—due to underperformance. Randalls will close by Feb. 10. Lara said pharmacy customers will be transferred to the Randalls at 8040 Mesa Drive, Austin.

Notable quote

"We are working diligently to place as many associates as possible in other locations, and we remain committed to the Austin market and surrounding areas," Lara said.

A closer look

The spot has been managed by Crestview Real Estate for nearly 30 years. Assistant Property Manager and spokesperson Mackenzie Hartley confirmed Hobby Lobby will fill the 58,000-square-foot space. The new store is expected to open in 2025.

This will be the second time in the past five years a Hobby Lobby has taken over a Randalls spot in the Austin area.

One more thing

According to the Hobby Lobby website, the company owns more than 1,000 locations across the nation and offers over 70,000 crafting and home decor products at each store.
