Get ready for chills, thrills and killer cocktails—Sign Bar’s immersive haunted maze, Fear Fair, opens Sept. 19.

The big picture

Created by immersive experience group ALT, the carnival-style attraction promises creepy clowns, twisted tests and plenty of jump scares. ALT, known for its folklore-fueled productions, said the maze will blur the line “between fear, folklore and fun.”

Visitors must be over 21 years old to enter during regular hours. Additionally, there will be a kid-friendly matinee option on Saturdays and Sundays starting in October. This daytime version will have the lights on and no roaming actors present.

Before and after the maze, guests can indulge in Sign Bar’s Halloween-inspired cocktail menu, featuring spooky sips such as the Blue Lagoon of Doom, The Sanderson Sip and Leatherface’s Last Call. There will also be frozen options available like the BOO-llini, Ectoplasm and Slay Queen Cooler. Food is available for purchase next door at Lao’d Bar.

Sign Bar comes from FBR Management, the team behind Lala’s Little Nugget, Mean Eyed Cat, The Wheel and a flock of other local bars. Located in East Austin, Sign Bar is decorated with over 75 signs from legendary local businesses such as Nutty Brown Cafe, Catfish Parlor, Dart Bowl, Lucky Lounge, Night Hawk and more.
