Austin's nonstop rain Saturday did not hinder crowds signed up to attend SXSW. Rather, many of them showed up in full force and packed rooms beyond their capacities to hear some of SXSW's top headliners speak.
Baratunde Thurston, digital director for The Onion, as well as a comic and co-founder of political blog "Jack and Jill Politics," brought in thousands of audience members for his afternoon keynote speech at the Austin Convention Center.
And Frank Abagnale, the man who Steven Spielberg based the movie "Catch Me If You Can" off of, also spoke in front of a packed audience at the center. Abagnale offered a thought-provoking speech, saying while people called him brilliant, he always disagreed. Instead, he was just a child—as he ran around the world passing off bad checks and getting free flights—who was trying to recover from his home that was recently split up.
