Volunteer opportunities are available for Special Olympic Texas' 25th annual Winter Games, set to take place Feb. 2-4, where more than 2,600 children and adults with intellectual disabilities from across the state will gather to compete in bowling, powerlifting and volleyball.

Competitions in bowling, the second-most popular sport in the winter games, will be held at four venues across the Austin area— Dart Bowl, Highland Lanes, Westgate Lanes and Mel’s Lone Star Lanes in Georgetown.

Volunteers are also needed to act as scorekeepers, line callers, ball shaggers and award presenters during the volleyball competition at the Round Rock Sports Center, 2400 Chisholm Trail, Round Rock.

In Athlete Village, located in the Norris Conference Center at 2525 W. Anderson Lane, Ste. 365, Austin, volunteers are needed to assist with running games, arts and crafts, and serving snacks to athletes and their families.

The powerlifting competition, slated to take place at the Round Rock High School gym, is not in need of volunteers but is encouraging fans to cheer on the athletes.

Medics are also needed. Prior experience is not required; however volunteers must be at least 15 years old or accompanied by an adult.
