Since expanding from East Austin to Dripping Springs in January, the Heart of Texas Pregnancy Resource Center has helped several expectant mothers in the area utilize the center’s services, according to owner Debi Wehmeier.

“We know there is a need [in the area], and we are starting to see moms,” she said.

By offering free services and resources, such as pregnancy tests; life skills classes; information about how to apply for state assistance; individual support; referrals; and baby products, such as diapers, wipes and formula, the center is intended to help pregnant women feel more prepared for childbirth and motherhood.

“A lot of women come in scared and don’t really know what they are doing, so we try to help them feel more happy and confident in their role,” Wehmeier said.

The Earn While You Learn program provides women the chance to earn “mommy money”—a currency that can be allocated toward larger, more expensive items provided by the clinic, such as strollers and cribs.

“I’m so blessed to be able to work here and see the transformation of women,” Wehmeier said.
