Transportation Updates

1. Morton Ranch expansion


The Morton Ranch Road project from Katy Hockley Cutoff Road to Porter Road was completed in August. The road was expanded from a two-lane asphalt roadway with roadside ditches to a four-lane concrete boulevard with a 32-foot wide median and underground storm sewer system.

2. FM 1463 expansion


A project to widen FM 1463 from I-10 to FM 1093 is in development and has yet to be funded. The project would widen FM 1463 from two-lanes to four-lanes with additional lanes near I-10 and at major intersections.

3. S. Firethorne Road extension


The South Firethorne Road project will connect the east-west road with north-south Spring Green Boulevard to the west. Between the Reserve at Katy and the Avalon at Spring Green communities, the 1,100-foot connection for the South Firethorne Road extension will stop at Spring Green creating a T intersection. The project will be up for bid Dec. 16.

4. I-10 from Beltway 8 to Highway 6 restriping


I-10 will be restriped in sections to provide 10 lanes plus managed lanes. The project is expected to be completed in January 2016.

5. Crossover Road expansion


Fort Bend County is designing a project to widen Crossover Road from FM 1463 to Spring Green Boulevard. The project  will go out for bid in the spring and start construction in summer 2016. The road will be widened from a two-lane asphalt road to a four-lane concrete boulevard.
