The merger between local tech company Freescale Semiconductor Ltd. and Netherlands-based NXP Semiconductors N.V. and, has been completed, according to a Dec. 7 news release. Both companies first announced the merger in March, estimated then to be worth $40 billion. The merged entity, taking the name of NXP Semiconductors N.V., has combined revenue of more than $10 billion, according to the news release. The merger is a step toward NXP’s journey to become the industry leader in high performance mixed signal solutions, NXP Chief Executive Officer Rick Clemmer said in a news release. Neither NXP or Freescale announced future plans for Freescale's Southwest Austin campus or its employees, located at 6501 W. William Cannon Drive.
