The Sugar Land Police Department has made its front parking lot at 1200 Hwy. 6 available as a safe location for residents looking to complete transactions made online.
“Strangers often meet to complete transactions from online sites like eBay, Craigslist and other classified listings—a practice that can result in assaults and thefts,” said Doug Adolph, assistant communications director for Sugar Land. “Well-lit, public places like police parking lots provide a safer option to finalize sales and purchases.”
The SLPD front parking lot is easily accessible and can be used for transactions 24 hours per day. The new service is not intended for commercial operations or businesses. It is to be used by private residents who are in search of a highly visible and public location to meet, Adolph said.
“The city of Sugar Land assumes no risk for fraudulent transactions and will not be able to verify whether items are stolen,” he said.
