Beginning Jan. 4, five minutes will be added to Leander ISD school days as a result of House Bill 2610, which was passed in the last legislative session.

HB 2610 requires all public school students to receive 75,600 minutes of instruction—instead of the 180 days that were previously required.

In 2016, elementary students will end classes five minutes later, and school days will now last from 7:45 a.m.-2:50 p.m.

High school campuses, with the exception of Cedar Park High School, will begin classes five minutes earlier, and school days will now last from 8:40 a.m.-3:45 p.m.

Cedar Park High School, as well as all LISD middle schools already meet legislative requirements and therefore will not be changing school day hours, according to the district.

The district will notify parents of the new pick-up and drop-off times provided by LISD transportation services, according to the district.
