Frisco ISD board of trustees will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Dec. 1 in the Administration Building, 5515 Ohio Drive, to discuss the proposed rezoning changes. The school district plans to open four new campuses next school year, including its ninth high school. Lebanon Trail High School will only open to freshman and will affect students who would go to Liberty, Independent, Centennial and Frisco high schools. FISD will also open Nelson Middle School and Miller and Vaughn elementary schools. The district held a meeting on Nov. 9 in which they allowed parents to provide public input on the new proposed changes. Several dozen parents from the Aspendale and Cascades neighborhoods in McKinney were in opposition of the changes that would affect their children. Other parents were in opposition to the changes that would take their children out of Frisco High School and into Lebanon Trail High School. The board also noted that they had received petitions from groups of parents who opposed the some of the changes as well as proposals for new rezoning changes. FISD Communications Coordinator Meghan Cone said the administration has reviewed all input from parents and questions from the board and will present some modifications to the original proposals to trustees for discussion at tonight's meeting. The board is expected to make a final decision on the final proposals on Dec. 14.
