Ground broke late November on a new retail development in Cypress at the northeast corner of Tuckerton and Fry Roads. Located on a 10-acre tract anchored by a recently opened H-E-B, Cypress Creek Plaza is meant to cater to growing residential communities in Cypress Creek Lakes, Towne Lake, Bridgeland, Canyon Lakes and Black Horse Ranch.
The project is being developed through the partnership of Smithco Development and Mischer Investments. Mischer is the developer of Cypress Creek Lakes, and Smithco has developed other commercial centers in the Greater Houston area, such as The Center at Bunker Hill, Echo Lane Shopping Center and Champions Forest Plaza.
“This area was chosen because of the significant amount of residential neighborhoods going up around the center,” said Megan Firby, director of leasing and marketing with Smithco. “We are hoping to create an attractive multi-tenant retail building that will be a convenient center for the local neighborhoods as well as other businesses in the near future.”
The center will consist of three buildings totaling 51,000 square feet and three pad sites facing Fry Road. Tenants are being targeted across a range of industries including restaurants, veterinary, pet supplies, medial, dry cleaners, postal services, hair and nail salons and national retailers.
More than 70 percent of the center has already been preleased, officials said. Signed tenants include:
- Sport Clips
- Postal Plus
- Snowflake Donuts
- Nails of America
- Sapporo Sushi
- T Jin Diner
- Natural Pawz
- Urgent Care for Kids
- RE/MAX
- Pediatric Dental
The retail portion of the center is expected to be completed and ready for tenants to move in by summer of 2016, Firby said.
